Eid al-Fitr: A Day of Divine Rewards
The first day of Shawwal, known as “Eid al-Fitr” among Muslims, marks a spiritual renewal. On this day, a Muslim who has fasted for a month is cleansed of weaknesses and sins, returning to their purest state. It’s a day when fasting is forbidden, and the giving of zakat al-fitra is a must.
Eid al-Fitr is a day of joy and happiness for believers, as every Muslim feels a sense of fulfillment in completing their divine duty. However, it’s also a day of anticipation and apprehension, as they await the divine judgment of their month-long actions and the rewards they will receive.
Eid al-Fitr is the day when Muslims receive the rewards for a month of fasting. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) conveyed in a hadith to Jabir ibn Abdullah Ansari that on the first day of Shawwal, God Almighty calls out to believers, urging them to receive their rewards.

Moreover, the eve of Eid al-Fitr, also known as the night of rewards, is a special time. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stated that on this night, God rewards those who worship without any calculation and as the day of Eid dawns, angels descend to earth, standing on streets and passages, calling out to the Ummah of Muhammad to join the Eid prayer for abundant rewards and forgiveness of great sins.
As we mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan and anticipate the rewarding moment of Eid al-Fitr, it’s a good time to pray for forgiveness of our sins and to strive to be worthy of God’s greatest rewards.
