KARBALA (IQNA) – A group of Indonesian pilgrims have taken part in this year’s Arbaeen march in Iraq.

The Arbaeen mourning ceremony is an extraordinary and immense religious gathering on a global scale, drawing over 20 million pilgrims. This significant event marks the 40th day after Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the revered grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

Every year, a massive assembly of Shia devotees comes together in Karbala, where the sacred shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to participate in deeply meaningful mourning rituals. These pilgrims, primarily from Iraq and Iran, undertake challenging journeys, covering extensive distances on foot.

Pilgrims from other states can also be spotted in the major event.
