TEHRAN (IQNA) – The last Quranic circle of the fifth Islamic Revolution Quranic convoy was held on Saturday evening.

The convoy had launched its programs in late January to mark the anniversary of the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

It wrapped up its program with a Quran recitation circle at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in the northeastern city of Mashhad.

A number of internationally acclaimed Iranian qaris recited verses from the Holy Book at Satuday night’s event.

It was organized in cooperation with the Culture and Islamic Guidance Department and Awqaf and Charity Affairs Department of Razavi Khorasan Province.

The convoy of Iranian Quranic figures and activists traveled to different cities of the country to hold programs on the occasion of the 44thanniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.

The Quranic convoy held some 9,000 Quranic circles and recitation programs in different provinces of the country over the past two weeks.

Every year, millions of Iranians across the country observe ten days of celebrations marking the anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution that put an end to the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in the country.

The day of Imam Khomeini’s return to Iran (February 1 this year) marks the beginning of the Ten Day Fajr (Ten Days of Dawn), which culminates with rallies on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 44 years ago, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution spearheaded by the late Imam Khomeini established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.
