TEHRAN (IQNA) – Sometimes, when people make a mistake or do something wrong, they try to deny wronging or run away from responsibility, but there will come a day when no one can deny having done what he has done or escape from accountability.

Day of Judgement

The day when there is no escape is the Resurrection Day. All human beings, no matter what their rank and position, whether good or bad, will stand before God to answer about what they did in this world. There is absolutely no possibility to get away with it. Everyone will be awarded or punished based on his deeds.

Verse 33 of Surah Al-Rahman points to the fact that God knows everything is in full command and man has no way of getting away: “Jinn and mankind, if you can penetrate the diameters of the heavens and the earth, do so, but you cannot do so without power and authority.”

Some Quran interpreters say this verse refers to God’s authority on the earth but given the concepts mentioned in the verses before and after it, most interpreters believe it is about the Day of Judgment.

Usually when we talk about escaping, there are two conditions that make one run away from something: On the one hand we are facing a frightening thing or event and on the other hand we know of somewhere to take refuge in. That is why we run away from what frightens and threatens us to where there is safety.

However, there is no escape from God’s judgment because He is the ruler of all of the world of existence. Moreover, if we truly understand the essence of Tawheed (monotheism) and attributes of God, we will realize that nothing from God threatens us. God has bestowed his mercy and compassion on all human beings, therefore, nothing from God threatens us to force us to run away.

It should be noted that threats and dangers are from humans themselves and their deeds and that divine punishment is the result of humans’ deeds. The punishment for deniers, disbelievers and enemies of God is a hell that they themselves have created. So one should not and cannot escape from God or the Day of Judgment but should be weary of his deeds.
