TEHRAN (IQNA) – Presidents of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) and the Saudi Red Crescent Authority met in Mina on Sunday, discussing bilateral cooperation.

IRCS President Pir-Hossein Kolivand told reporters that he met Jalal bin Mohammed AlOwaisi in Mina as pilgrims are performing the final rituals of Hajj in Mecca.

According to agreements made in the meeting, the Iranian society can use equipment and facilities of the Saudi side to offer services to pilgrims, Kolivand said.

For instance, he continued, those pilgrims who should immediately return to Iran due to health conditions will be dispatched to Jeddah Airport by Saudi ambulances.

Saudi Arabia will also offer to the Iranian side all the needed medical equipment, he added. All these services will be offered in a “brotherly, friendly” manner, Kolivand stressed.

Iran has already established several medical centers in Mecca and Medina to serve pilgrims.

Some one million pilgrims from different countries will perform the Hajj this year after two years of restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Iran has sent more than 39,000 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia to take part in the Hajj rituals this year.
