TEHRAN (IQNA) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei warned against the enemy plots to infiltrate the country.

Speaking in a Thursday meeting with members of the Assembly of Experts in Tehran, the Leader warned that one level of the enemy’s attempts to make inroads into the country is targeting the Iranian people’s beliefs in Islam, the Revolution, and the general civilization-building responsibilities of political Islam.

Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that strengthening the country from within is the fundamental way for blocking the enemy inroads.

Elsewhere in the address, the Leader commended people’s turnout in the recent parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections as brilliant, saying that the Iranian people once again showed their allegiance to the Islamic Establishment by voting en masse.

The turnout in Iran was higher than in many other countries, including the United States, Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Leader further enumerated the characteristics of elections in an Islamic system, referring to people’s freedom to take part in votes, competitiveness and security and peacefulness of the atmosphere of the polls as some of these features.

Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that while there are conflicts and insecurity in neighboring countries, Iran’s February elections were held in full peace and security.

Iran’s parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections were held on February 26.

More than 60 percent of some 55 million eligible voters cast their ballots at around 53,000 polling stations across the country.

4,844 and 161 candidates ran for the parliament and the Assembly of Experts, respectively.
