-- “Religion in Modern World” is a collection of speeches delivered by Imam Musa Sadr concerning the essence of faith and its crucial effect on mankind in today’s world.
Imam Musa Sadr is known as a Muslim intellectual deeply concerned about human being’s confusion in the contemporary age, who regarded the only way of getting rid of this situation was the Islamic faith.
“Religion in Modern World” is the transcript of the lecture given by the prominent cleric at the Faculty of Law & Economic Sciences in Christian University of Beirut, Lebanon, on February 2, 1968, with the presence of a number of Christian religious figures and officials.
With the eye catching progress made by mankind in science, technology, etc. over the past couple of centuries, the role of religion in the human’s life has been to a certain extent neglected, he says, inviting people to profoundly think of faith and spirituality one more time.
“It is true that philosophy, science, art, law, etc. have advanced enormously, but, no matter how developed they are, such progress is made by human beings and is constantly evolving, evolution being a synonym for instability.”
Elsewhere in his speech, the cleric defines progress resulted from evolution, which is meant the interaction of mankind in the nature surrounding him. In other words, Human being reads new pages of the creation and existence, which leads him to know more and more, as a result of which his life is subjected to continuous changes.
“Meanwhile, having faith to an eternal and metaphysic source called religion, which is revealed by the Creator, is the only and single source of human salvation, regardless of time and space, that is to say no matter if someone attained apparent destination they designated for their life.”
