TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 31st edition of the Quran competition for Iran’s armed forces kicked off here in the capital on Sunday.

 Some 300 top Quran reciters and memorizers of the armed forces are participating in the contest.

The opening ceremony was held Sunday morning at the Kawsar Hall of the Army’s Ideo-Political Organization.

Memorization of the Quran at different levels, recitation, Adhan (call to prayers) and Quranic concepts are the categories of the Quranic event.

Representatives of the Army, Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Police, and Defense Ministry are competing for the top prizes in different categories.

The contest will last until Wednesday, July 12.

The Quran competition is annually held to promote Quranic activities among the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
