TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran recitation session is planned to be held in Hamburg, Germany, this Thursday, July 2.

A number of internationally known Quran reciters will take part in the session, which will be organized on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, IQNA’s Europe branch reports.

The Islamic Center of Hamburg will host the Quranic program starting from 8 P.M. local time.

The center also plans to hold a ceremony on Wednesday, July 1, to celebrate Imam Hassan Mojtaba (AS) birthday, which falls on the 15th day of Ramadan.

Established in the late 1950s, the Islamic Centre Hamburg is one of the oldest Shia religious centers in Germany and Europe.

The center has various programs for the holy month of Ramadan attended by the followers of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic Hijri calendar. This year, it began on Thursday, June 18.

During Ramadan, Muslims all over the world fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.

They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran and doing charity work.
