Eid Int’l Festival Kicks off in The Philippines

Marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, an international festival and exhibition was opened yesterday, August 2, in Manila, the Philippines.

The three day event has been organized by Amina Rasul, Philippian retired Senator, the Center of Tourism Development of the country, Municipality of Manila, Magbassa Kita Foundation and the Center of Islam and Democracy in the Philippines, IRNA reported. Iran, Nigeria, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and some other Islamic countries have also cooperated in holding the festival. Getting the Philippian citizens more acquainted with Islamic rituals on Eid Al-Fitr and the holy month of Ramadan and introducing Muslims’ traditions in other countries during the holy month are among the objectives of the festival. Iran has actively participated at the exhibition presenting various books on Islam and the holy month of Ramadan, fasting, art, etc. as well as Iranian handicrafts and artworks. The opening ceremony of the festival attended by diplomats and representatives of Muslim countries was broadcast live by the Philippine’s national TV channel.
