TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Islamic Republic of Iran’s representatives will compete in four international Quranic events in coming weeks.

International Quran contest

As restrictions imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 have eased over the past few months, international Quran contests resume in different countries.

They include the 28th edition of Croatia’s international Quran competition, which will kick off in the European country’s capital of Zagreb on Thursday and run until Sunday, September 25.

Top qari Ali Reza Mokari will represent Iran in the competition’s Quran recitation category.

Then there will be an international contest in Konya. The 8th edition of the competition is slated in the Turkish city on September 28-October 8.

Iran will have two contenders in the Quranic event: Vahid Khazaei in recitation and Hossein Khani in memorization of the entire Quran.

Later in October, three Iranians will compete in Kuwait’s 11th international Quran contest.

It is scheduled to be held in the Persian Gulf Arab country on October 12-19.

Shoja Zuwaidat from Khuzestan province will vie for the top title in memorization of the entire Quran along with observance of the ten styles of recitation, while Ali Gholamazad from Zanjan province and Reza Rezaei from Gilan province will represent Iran in the memorization category and teenagers section respectively.

Then on October 19, the final stage of Malaysia’s 62nd international Quran competition will kick off in Kuala Lumpur and run until October 24.

Masoud Nouri from Iran is among the qaris that will compete in the final round in the recitation category.

He attended the preliminary stage of the competition via videoconference back in July and was named a finalist by the panel of judges.
