TEHRAN (IQNA) – Algeria’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments ordered the reopening of Quran schools in the country.

The decision was made in a meeting held to discuss issues related to the activities of mosuqes and religious schools during the coronavirus pandemic, it said in a statement, Echorouk Online website reported.

The ministry added that the health protocols should be fully observed.

It was also decided in the meeting that religious and Quranic classes can be held in mosques on Mondays and Thursday before Isha (night) prayers.

Another decision was that Qurans can return to bookshelves in mosques so that worshipers can read the Quran.

The ministry also said that vaccination of imams, preachers and staff of mosques against COVID-19 will continue across the country.

After months of closure aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus, the Algerian government decided in February to reopen all mosques in the country in strict compliance with health measures and protocols.
