17 Daesh Terrorists Arrested in Iraq
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), also known as Hashd al-Shaabi, said its forces have detained 17 Daesh terrorists in an operation in Mosul.
In a statement on Saturday, the PMU said several ringleaders of the terrorist group are among those arrested, al-Maaloomah news agency reported.
In late 2017, Baghdad declared there was no longer any Daesh presence in Iraq.
However, the terrorist group still maintains a presence in rural areas of Anbar, Diyala, Kirkuk, Saladin, and Mosul.
The Iraqi army and PMU forces continue to carry out frequent operations against the group in various parts of the country.
