210 Make It to Iran Nat’l Quran Contest Finals

TEHRAN (IQNA) –  A total of 210 Quran activists have made it to the final round of Iran’s 42nd national Quran competition, an official said.

 

Speaking at a press conference here in Tehran on Sunday, Hojat-ol-Islam Ai Moghanni, head of Iran’s Quran National Foundation, added that 136 of them are men and the rest are women.

The final stage will be held in the central city of Isfahan from September 28 to October 11, he noted, adding that the University of Isfahan will host the Quranic event.

According o the official, the preliminary round was held in the holy city of Qom in August with the participation of 535 individuals, competing in the men and women sections.  

There will be Quranic programs on the sidelines of the final stage, including a Quran exhibition as well as Quran recitation sessions, he added.

Also speaking at the press conference was Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mostafa Hosseini, head of the Quranic Affairs Center of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, who said the national Quran contest has developed in terms of both quantity and quality over the past four decades.

He also highlighted the various categories in the competition and said that in this year’s event, a category of Quranic calligraphy has been added for the first time.

Iran’s national Quran competition is annually held with the participation of top Quran activists from across the country.

It is aimed at discovering Quranic talents and promoting Quranic activities in society.
