Quranic Courses Begin in Rawalpindi

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Iranian Cultural Center in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, has organized a series of new courses on Quran recitation, Tajweed and Quranic calligraphy.

According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the courses were launched in a ceremony attended by Abrar Hussein Erfani, an eminent Quran teacher and director of Madinat-ol-Quran Seminary, and Khawja Muhammad Hussein, an expert in calligraphy.

Addressing the ceremony, the calligrapher talked about the importance of this visual art, the history of Nasta’leeq script and its status in Islamic countries.

The Quran expert also presented a speech in the program, highlighting the virtues of learning and teaching the Quran.

He stressed that the infallible Imams (AS) paid special attention to teaching the Divine verses. 

He also emphasized that the verses should be pronounced correctly.

Also speaking in the ceremony was Ali Agha Noori, in charge of the Iranian Cultural House in Rawalpindi, who said that reading and contemplating the Quranic verses will lead to human salvation.

He further quoted some Hadiths by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Imams (AS) about the importance of learning to read the Quran.

The Iranian official also said that the art of calligraphy has a special status in the history of the two Islamic countries and expressed hope that the courses would benefit the participants.
