Nahj-ul-Balagha Int'l Conference to Be Held

Islamic Thought Center in England plans to hold an international conference on Nahj-ul-Balagha on Sunday, 30th September 2012 at Marriott Hotel, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, UK.
The precious book has played a central role in the study of Arabic literature, and has expounded countless other sciences which have emanated from this single source.
This academic conference aims to explore in depth the wide-ranging themes of faith, humanity and politics in the sermons, letters and sayings of Imam Ali (AS) contained within the book. This conference further serves to stimulate research and discussions pertaining to the influence of his teachings in the era in which he lived, and their practical applicability in challenging issues in the modern world.
The conference will consist of a number of esteemed international academics presenting their papers on various aspects of Nahjul Balagha. There will be an exclusive video presentation by the keynote speaker, Professor George Jordac from Lebanon, the renowned author of 'The Voice of Human Justice'.
Economic Justice; Zakah and Imam Ali (AS); Philosophical arguments in the Nahj-ul-Balagha; Nahj-ul-Balagha and Multiculturalism in Contemporary UK; Humanity in Nahj-ul-Balagha; Understanding the Quran in the Light of Nahjul Balagha; Imam Ali (AS): Hero of Immanence and of Transcendence; The importance of Nahj-ul-Balagha; Letter 31: Building a Holistic Model of Education for Madaris and Beyond; and Politics in the light of Nahj-ul-Balagha will be discussed at the event.
The conference will feature the following speakers: Professor Rodney Shakespeare, Professor Sajjad Rizvi, Dr. Ian G.Williams, Dr. Rebecca Masterton, Sheikh Muhammad Ali Ismail, Reverend Frank Julian Gelli, Sayyed Muhammad al-Musawi, Lecturer Imranali Panjwani, and Dr. Muhammad Khalid.
It will start at 11.00 a.m.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided and a book exhibition will also be held on the sidelines of the conference.
