TEHRAN (IQNA) – Spiritual leader of Bahrain’s Shia majority Sheikh Isa Qassim denounced attempt to promote the US’ so-called ‘deal of the century’ plan for the Middle East, stressing that all Muslims are opposed to it.

In a statement on Monday, Sheikh Qassim said the Muslim Ummah reject the plot and condemn it and will stand against anyone who agrees with it, lualuatv.com website reported.

He added that given the total opposition of the Palestinians and the Muslim and Arab Ummah, no one can talk positively about this issue on their behalf.

The so-called “deal of the century” is a crime against Palestine and anyone who cooperates with it would be a disgrace, the senior cleric underlined.

US President Donald Trump has long been talking about a “deal of century” for the so-called peace agreement between Israelis and Palestinians.

Early last week, the US announced plans to hold a conference in the Bahraini capital Manama, where Trump administration officials are expected to unveil economic aspects of the plan.

Trump’s “peace plan” has been dismissed by Palestinian authorities ahead of its unveiling at the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan and the formation of the new Israeli cabinet, most likely in June.

Speaking in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah on April 16, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh lashed out at Trump’s initiative, saying it was “born dead.”

Shtayyeh added that negotiations with the US were useless in the wake of the country’s relocation of its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds, which Palestinians consider the capital city of their future state.
