Iranian Qaris Make It to Finals of Qatar Quran Award

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Two Iranian Qaris have managed to reach the final round of an international Quran competition in Qatar known as Katara Award for Reciting the Holy Quran.

 

Seyed Jassim Mousavi and Hamed Khodabakhshi are among the 100 Qaris who will take part in the final round, according to kataraquran website.

They were selected from a total of 1700 entries registered for the competition.

In the first stage, Qaris from around the world sent recorded clips of their Quran recitation to the competition organizers.

The Katara Cultural Village institute annually organizes the Quranic event.

Khaled bin Ibrahim al-Saliti, head of the institute, said the 100 Qaris who made it to the finals are from 11 Arab countries and 19 non-Arab states.

Germany, Morocco, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Iran, Yemen, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, Algeria and Egypt are among the countries that will have representatives in the final round, he noted.

The final stage is slated to be held in the holy month of Ramadan (May-June).

The winners will be selected based on their style of rendering, voice quality and their adherence to the rules of recitation, among other factors.
