TEHRAN (IQNA) – 114 countries have been invited to dispatch their representatives to Iran to take part in the country’s upcoming international Quran competitions, an official said.

Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Moghanni, deputy head of the Quran and Etrat Center of Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, told IQNA that Iran will host four international Quran contests in April.

They are the International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as those for women, seminary students, and the visually-impaired, he noted.

The cleric added that invitations have been sent for 114 countries to dispatch their Quran reciters and memorizers to attend the contests.

In the International Quran Competition of Iran, only 68 countries have been invited in order to ensure the high quality of the contest, he said.

The 35th edition of the international Quranic event is slated for April 19-26, 2018.

The Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the competition with the participation of Quran memorizers and reciters from various countries.

Like this year’s edition, Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla (prayer hall) will most likely host the 2018 Quran contest.
