Mahmoud al-Zabi, the head of the Administrative Council of Egypt’s Center for Books and National Archives, described the manuscript as one of the most famous and rare copies of the Quran, al-Dastoor daily reported.

He noted that research is underway on the copy, which was donated to the center by Sayyida Nafisa Mosque in 1878.

Sayyida Nafisa, whom the copy is attributed to, was a grand granddaughter of Imam Hassan Mojtaba (AS) and her grave is in Egypt.

She was born in 140 Hijri (757 AD) in Mecca and died in 208 (823) in Egypt.

Her tomb is a pilgrimage site for Muslims, especially Shias.
