The courses are organized every Saturday, Adel al-Hindawi, one of the organizers, told IQNA.

He said some 60 children and teenagers take part in the weekly classes, which are held separately for girls and boys at two levels.

According to Hindawi, they learn styles of Quran recitations and memorization of the Holy Quran.

They also learn Tarteel and Tajweed principles and discuss the teachings and concepts of the Quranic verses, he added.

Melbourne is the coastal capital of the southeastern Australian state of Victoria.

There are numerous mosques and Islamic centers in the city, where Muslims make up some two percent of the population.
