TEHRAN (IQNA) – Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) said the WFPIST and Islamic seminaries are ready for cooperation with international bodies on human rights.

Ayatollah Mohsen Araki made the remark on Thursday in a meeting with President of The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer.

He added that Iran’s Islamic seminaries have conducted extensive research studies on human rights and also hold a conference on the issue.

He said such cooperation could help curb human rights abuses.

Ayatollah Araki underlined that in view of the Holy Quran, all the messengers of God have been sent to uphold humans’ rights.

“We believe that all religions share the belief on defending the rights of human beings,” he went on to say.
