Lebanese Cleric Calls for Confronting Sectarian Strife

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A prominent Lebanese cleric underlined the need for confronting sectarian Fitnas (strife) and extremism.

Sayyed Ali Fadlallah added that more efforts should be made to bring followers of different religions closer together.
He also stressed that extremism and violence committed in the name of Islam have nothing to do with the religion.
Fadlallah noted that peace is the common spirit of all Divine religions and that all messengers of God have strived for spread of peace in the world.
“It is upon us all to work for peace in the world,” he went on to say.
Ali Fadlallah is the son of the late Ayatollah Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah who was an eminent religious authority in Lebanon.
