Organizing Quranic programs on the sidelines of the 4th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students is a matter of significance and needs organizers's special heed.
This is according to Sheikh Mohammad Al-Halbavi, internationally-known Quran referee from Egypt, who, speaking to IQNA, attached great importance to holding Quranic programs on the sidelines of the 4th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students stressing that, “such programs ought to be carried out pursuing the aim of getting the individuals further acquainted with the elevated teachings of the Holy Quran and promoting spirituality among both the contenders and the attendees”.
Citing verse 49 of Surah Ankabut, the translation of which reads: Nay, but they, the clear Ayat [i.e the description and the qualities of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) written like verses in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] are preserved in the breasts of those who have been given knowledge (from the people of the Scriptures). And none but theZalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers, etc.) deny Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), he restated that: “The verse implicates that the holy Quran is a book of guidance for those who are vigilant and awake”.
The prominent Egyptian Qari described the act of organizing such contests as praiseworthy adding that the contest will depict the unity of the Islamic Ummah and that the Holy Quran is the only means of unity and solidarity among Islamic denominations.
Pointing to the overall objective of arranging the international event, he said that, “encouraging the youths to memorize and the recite the Quran and learn about its lofty teachings ought to be given priority over other issues”.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Sheikh Mohammad Al-Halbavi touched on the judging committee of the event and underscored that the members of the jury panel should have mastery over various categories of the contest so that can make a fair judgment.
He also said that adding categories such as Quranic research to the contest will affect the main categories namely memorization and recitation which doesn’t seem essential.
Sheikh Mohammad Al-Halbavi further attached great importance to the interpretation of the Quran calling on the organizers to attach value to Quran interpretation at the contest.
He concluded that holding separate Quran contest for women is also essential for women play an effective role in shaping the basic structure of Muslim countries.
